Howard moved on to other projects and it seemed the tower was going to fade away, or at least that it was not going to be a Ron Howard deal.
However, Fans share posted a twitter recently from Howard that says he plans to and that he "loves" it.
This is from Fans share (HERE)
A fan recently asked Ron Howard on Twitter whether or not he was still looking to direct The Dark Tower and Ron retweeted the message with a response. It read, “@RealRonHoward please answer me do you direct THE DARK TOWER?” I hope and plan to. Love it” The Dark Tower is a fantastic novel and we truly believe that Ron Howard could do The Dark Tower movie justice.
It's nothing new for deals like this to take forever in coming together. It's always been like that in Hollywood; it just gets reported on more these days.
ReplyDeleteI've still got mixed feelings about the project, although I lean more toward the excited-for-it-to-happen side of things.
If the movie version of "The Hunger Games" is a huge hit, it won't hurt at all. That novel's inspired-by-King roots have been well-publicized, and if it DOES hit big, every studio is going to be looking to find a way to replicate it.
Either way, eventually, "The Dark Tower" WILL be turned into either a movie or a tv series. It's just a matter of when it happens, and whether it ends up being any good.
I am one of those people who love King's work on a deeper level than just a fan. Like The Lord of the Rings movie, we want someone who is attuned to the many dynamics of the novels and feels connected to them as much as the characters in them and the fans that love them. I want to see the DT books into film, but I also want them to be superb.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching anime lately and I find myself thinking something like that would be a good way to handle the series. It won't happen, but a man can dream.
