Carrie paperback -- AWESOME! Notice the lack of giant lettering "STEPHEN KING." In fact, the author is completely underplayed on both the front and back. -- Thanks Shaun Lawton!
You're welcome. I really wish I could scan the interior front and rear endpage layouts, but doing so would more than likely push this paperback's spine just past the cracking point...and you know what, that's the question when it comes right down to it. Should a classic Signet book first edition like this Carrie's back be broken in order to be scanned so that fans can drool over it? Maybe we should take a poll. I'm not promising to comply if we should get a unanimous vote for the splaying wide open of my prized paper back book, mind you. This book has a special place in my heart, I should treat her almost as she were, you know, a real girl. I'm afraid she's from a vintage era which requires more than just a first date like this for that. Who knows? If I am bound to re-read her pages...why, the seams of her jacket just might come undone, and then, well why not at that point? If there's a moral in this tale somewhere, I don't think we should know what it is.
I discovered King with 'Salem's Lot, went back for Carrie, and have read pretty much every book since as he released them, with the exception of the Tower books, for some reason. Great stuff, and instructive if you pay attention.
In short, readers both familiar and unfamiliar with Stephen King's novels will find a motherlode of interesting information inside the pages of Brighton David Gardner's insightful and illuminating treatise.
I can't recommend it enough, so be sure to get it either for your Kindle or e-Reader of choice, or buy the print version because it's easily worth twice the cover price.

ReplyDeleteI like the old books better -- where the story is more important than putting King's name in 90 font.
ReplyDeleteFunny -- treat her like a vintage lady!
I scanned those interior pages & you can see 'em here:
