Can a love for something kill a desire to adapt it? Well, in J.J. Abrams case, it just might. Abrams was expected to direct the Dark Tower comic book series. This was something King himself believed in, and sold the rights for $19.
.Abrams told MTV, "You'll be hard-pressed to find a huger fan of 'The Dark Tower' than me, but that's probably the reason that I shouldn't be the one to adapt it." The bottom line appears to be that he's afraid he'll mess it up.
