What's it like under the dome? Right now the lights are out at the Superdome.
Hey, does this NFL posting sound like it could be on the flap of a Stephen King book:
"NEW ORLEANS -- Minutes into the third quarter of Super Bowl XLVII, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome slipped into darkness."
Of course, it's not like the 49ers really wanted to play football anyway.

I am soooo excited!!!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh gosh. Thank you for finding this. Maybe there's a chance this story can be salvaged.

Worst teaser I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteIf Chris and Bryant ever agree. . . I'm going to disagree just to keep it interesting. (:
ReplyDeleteDavid, I believe you may have just crossed the line into being a black-belt in internet-fu.
DeleteNot a great teaser. . . it was released too soon, since no scenes have really been shot yet, they had no footage to release! The result -- hype without any substance to show us how awesome their show will be.
ReplyDeleteDon't misunderstand me -- I have a feeling the show if going to be really good, so I'm definitely excited about it. It's just that that teaser ... man, that thing looks like something a fan slapped together in about an hour. Using the Super Bowl to show tens of millions of people something that cheap-looking was probably a bad idea.
DeleteThat should read "is" going to be really good. Typos! Sorry.
DeleteYeah, I agree. They had nothing to show -- so why spend budget on an ad that did nothing to really excite people? I vote: Save the money for special effects.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, this is going to force me to buy cable again, unless it's going to be available online. But History is also running The Bible mini-series, and I want to see that, too. But I really hate cable TV because it's a time monster. Glad I got to rant.
I'm on-page with you there. The main reason I dumped cable is because having it was leading me to watch too many shows. Not in the sense of just sitting there mindlessly clicking the remote, but in the sense of finding myself edging toward trying to watch EVERY good show that came on.
DeleteAnd that leads to spending way too much time watching tv.
So now, I pick out the best of the best, and go over to my parents' house to watch them with them. That way, it keeps me from being an even bigger couch potato than I already am, and it also leads to me spending more time with my mom and dad. So really, it's a win-win.
And we will DEFINITELY be tuning in for "Under the Dome."
In an official capacity as tie breaker, to be fair, I wasn't commenting on the quality of the trailer, as a didn't really have a comment to give, it was just good to see a King project finally get of the ground (for once).
ReplyDeleteAll of which means basically that, in light of earlier comments, and under the rule of first dibs...I WIN!
EEEEyesss! U.S.A-U.S.A!!! Best...Superbowl...EVER!

Why do they keep picturing it as a glass dome, when it isn't described like that in the book? They're just asking for people to shout "Simpsons Movie!"
ReplyDeleteWell, it's kinda difficult to show an invisible dome in a marketing image. Bear in mind that even the cover of the novel showed the dome.
DeleteMy guess is that in the show itself, it won't actually be something you can see, except when people are firing weapons at it and whatnot.
I think this was the cover of the book, but an animated version
DeleteBut can't they make it some kind of forcefield, or a different shape like in the book?
Yes, but in an advertisement how would you communicate that without confusing people who aren't familiar with the book? The only real choice is to stick with the basic concept of there being an impenetrable dome, and the only way to show that is to ... well, to SHOW it.
DeleteIn making the show itself, they won't have that problem, because they'll have lots of time to work with, and they'll be able to allow character to explain things like the shape and size of the field.
