I Love The Carrie Alternative Ending!

  1. I kind of liked this one better than the one they kept. I still get the feeling that there are scenes that they didn't include, though.

I also get the feeling that the director simultaneously hated and had a crush on the Tina character (poor, poor Tina). I've heard of fan service, but I think that might have been director service.

  2. I'm not going to watch this, because I've got the Blu-ray on order. But I'll say this: it'd be hard for me to NOT like the ending more than I like the one they actually went with.

  3. I ended up feeling everything -- especially the end they went with -- was a DePalma rehash. And I liked it. But wish they had just admitted they were doing a remake. People complained when I called it a "remake" -- but guess what, it turned out to be a remake of the original.

    1. It was absolutely a remake of the '76 film. I honestly don't know why they even pretended it was anything else.

The whole project seemed to be weirdly indecisive about what sort of identity it wanted to have. I mostly liked the end product, but I sure was hoping they'd get a little closer to the novel.

      Oh, well; maybe next time.

    2. NO NEXT TIME! No more Carrie remakes. No. The Dark Tower or Doctor Sleep or please please please Joyland. But if they do another Carrie, I'm not even watching.

  4. Ugh, not another one. I think it's time Hollywood left the poor misfit alone. There are enough King titles that haven't been touched... they don't need to turn Carrie into the next Dracula.

I can understand why some people (Chloe Moretz) get kind of defensive when people call it a remake - I think this is the fourth remake she's made, and at least two of them were pretty terrible...

As far as remakes go, I thought this one worked (it didn't detract from the original and actually added a bit - I thought the Margaret, Billy and Chris characters(well, 2/3rds of it) were better in this version.

I'd rather see Dark Tower, the Talisman or a big screen Salem's Lot...
