I want to correct an earlier post.
Oct 22 and Oct 23 the Dryden Theater will be showing Kubrick's "The Shining." This version does not include the extra two minutes that Kubrick cut at the end of the film; it is the142-minute extended U.S. version that includes footage Mr. Kubrick subsequently cut from the European release.
Thank you, Dresden Engle for the clarification.

In other words, Kubrick's estate contacted the theatre and said "Oh NO you don't!"
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see that footage someday. I'd also like to see Kubrick's first feature, "Fear and Desire," someday, but the estate doesn't appear to be offering that one up anytime soon, either.
Fear and Desire is relatively simple to see. It's been on the bootleg market for years.
ReplyDeleteThe Eastman House has actually shown "Fear and Desire" previously.
