GRAMMA heads to hollywood

comingsoon.net has posted news that Universal will be bringing an adaptation of Stephen King's short  story "Gramma" to the screen. The short story has also served as an episode of "The new Twilight Zone", adapted by none other than Harlan Ellison.The film is slatedto be called  "Mercy."

  1. Great story! However, I don't see how it can be a great movie. The action, such as it is, is minimal while there is much pondering.

    The same could be said of 1408 and they managed to make a really good movie out of that. Perhaps there is hope.

  2. I’m excited for this adaptation. A friend I work with at DISH got me into Stephen King, and I’ve been watching his movies ever since. Currently King’s 1408 is on my list of movies to watch. I’m going to rent it from Blockbuster @Home, which ships fast enough that I should have the movie in time to watch it next weekend. If I like it then I’ll definitely plan to see Mercy when it comes out. And I’m sure they’ll find a way to make Gramma into a decent movie, even if it does pose some challenges.
