I especially like a line in the next paragraph where he drecribes "the bit-players in our lives...the kid in the aisle of the Barnes and Noble that you had to step around in the comic books section."
I've seen that kid countless times, even though the face is rarely the same, and at the same time, I've been that kid. That's I think a part of life's central casting everybody has to step into at one point or another.
