The Amazing Spider Man can't escape Stephen King
I thought the new Spider Man movie, “The Amazing Spider Man” was off the hook awesome! And, it had a couple of nods to some people I like.
First, there is a quick nod to Stephen King. Did you catch it? During the fight scene in the library, a set of books is knocked over. The only name that stands out is the one – white on brown – “STEPHEN KING.” Come on, you saw it, right! That could only be the side of Desperation. I’ll leave it for you all to tell me why Desperation, or Stephen King, get a second in The Amazing Spider Man. By the way, you may have missed it because it’s right after the scene where Stan Lee was walking through the library.
Second, there was a nod to Alfred Hitchcock. This one is more obvious, as it comes in the form of a poster in Peter’s room. There is a large Rear Window poster that gets several shots.
I was unimpressed by "The Amazing Spider-Man," sadly, but I did think the cameo appearance by a copy of Desperation was cool. Not sure WHY it was there ... but, still, cool.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know I wasn't the only one who spotted it.
ReplyDeleteI thought the movie was great. Lots of twists and turns.
Burnett was "unimpressed" because there was no mention of his boring-as-hell blog. Too bad, so sad, LOSER!
ReplyDeleteYou got me! If Captain Stacy had mentioned Ramblings Of A Honk Mahfah at some point, I'd've called it the best movie ever made.
DeleteAs is, though, not so much.
I just checked out your blog and thought it was pretty cool. You obviously put a lot of effort into it.
DeleteThanks, Brian! I'm going to check yours out soon, too; one of 'em has an awesome title (You're Entitled To My Opinion) and currently has a review of a book by Ace Frehley sitting at the top ... so that seems pretty damn promising to me!
DeleteAnon,
ReplyDelete1. Put your name on whatyou write.
2. You are welcome to disagree, but you can't make personal attacks.
I haven't seen it yet, but … when you mentioned that there was Hitchcock poster in Peter's room, I immediately thought 'Psycho' – if only because Andrew Garfield looks so much like Anthony Perkins/Norman Bates. Kind of sad the producers of the new film 'Hitchcock' didn't choose Garfield to play Perkins.
ReplyDeleteHe would have been great for that role, although James D'Arcy (who is playing Perkins in the movie) will probably be good, too.
DeleteBy the way, I didn't like the movie all that much, but Garfield was awesome as Spidey.
Heh. I caught it. I knew it was either Desperation or Regulators. My sister had both and I remember the two covers made one scene when put together. I googled "stephen king spiderman" and this blog was the second result.
