Richard Dawson, known to Stephen King fans as the game show host Damon Killian in the horrific "Running man" movie died Saturday, June 3, 2012.
The choice of Dawson as a game show host was perfect, since he gave a decade of his life to Family Feud. He also played Corporal Peter Newkirk in the World War II comedy series Hogan's Heros for six years. According to ABC, He also appeared as a celebrity panellist on a number of TV game shows, including the popular Match Game, and those appearances eventually led to his hosting duties on Family Feud. HERE is his IMDb profile.
Richard Dawson was the best part in the entire film. The actual film just about did no justice to the novel, but the story about the network's was a job well done. The fact they actually went with a real game show host was a great idea and how Richard Dawson actually was a different person backstage compared to how he was on camera made it all the better.
ReplyDeleteI was going to post about the 25th anniversary of the film. Now I'll have to post a tribute to Dawson.
