Movie Line writer Christopher Rosen has an article titled "Ron Howard and Brian Grazer Still Hoping for The Dark Tower." Bottomline -- they're back to shopping around for a big check writer. I hope they find one. One with deeper pockets. “[T]he soonest we could do it would be June next year,” Grazer said.

My guess is that this will end up happening in some form. Howard is just too big a name for the entire industry to pass on it, and if it's being pitched as a major tentpole-type series of blockbusters with the buy who made "The DaVinci Code" standing behind it, there WILL be someone who jumps at the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteMy hope is that they will insist on making nine or ten movies, though, instead of three.

I may have said this before, but my hope is that this goes to HBO rather than becoming a movie. After seeing how well they did with A Game of Thrones I would love to see them taking on something like The Dark Tower. I think they have more freedom when they turn things into a mini-series. Then again I would love to see the landscapes of The Dark Tower books on the big screen.
