Believe it or not, I've now found out that Darabont did the exact same move in his 84-7 remake of The Blob, so it's pretty much the same gimmick, and in all honesty, it didn't work there for me, either.<br /><br />As for audiobooks, I haven't had a chance to here that many, although I did stumble across a copy of the Misery radio drama, although I haven't for whatever no good reason got around to listening to it yet (I'll have to remedy that).<br /><br />Bryant mentioned the difference between reading and listening in his review of Pete Straub's Shadowland. He brings up the interesting topic of which books work best read, and which deserve the audiobook treatment.<br /><br />I don't know enough to answer that. Although I guess one of the pitfalls of even audiobooks may be (I'm not certain) that the listener has to here a performance, and if it's not done right, then slogging through the audio could a chore (I guess). <br /><br />Also: King has narrated Desperation unabridged and it's NOT RELEASED ON AUDIBLE!
